Tapered sockets are designed for rapid assembly and disassembly of pulleys and other transmission gear without having the need for special equipment other than a hex important. Various machined holes ensure fast local community, staying away from pricey factory downtime. Bushings are keyways machined to British Normal Technical specs. This is in addition to the clamping screw, which is ample for the necessary torque in many cases. Tightening with a tapered bushing eliminates any hole in between the hub and the bore, which eliminates fretting corrosion.
